Life In The Health Lane

Far From Boring

Welcome to this week’s edition!

Over the past couple of weeks, I shared my personal journey and the story of the fisherman, both of which invited us to reflect deeply on life, purpose, and how we define success.

This week, I want to dive into a topic that’s just as meaningful: the truth about living a healthy lifestyle.

Contrary to what many believe, it’s not boring. In fact, it's the complete opposite. I can say with full confidence that I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, because I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been.

So what exactly have I noticed?

Well there was a time when I believed that being healthy meant sacrifice. That I’d have to give up everything I enjoyed. That it would be a rigid, joyless routine of workouts and salads.

As all I really knew before was the classic vicious cycle we all find ourselves in, being a saint during the week, eating clean, going to the gym and on the weekend going nuts! I didn’t know how to have fun on the weekends without booze and eating unhealthy tasty food.

So that belief and routine held me back for years.

I have always been into my health and fitness, but I’ve never had the results to show for it atheistically and also mentally.

But once I started making intentional changes, not all at once, but gradually, I realized something powerful: Being healthy feels like freedom.

Freedom from energy crashes.
Freedom from brain fog and mood swings.
Freedom from the rollercoaster of guilt and overindulgence.
Freedom from chasing “quick fixes” that never worked.

I feel more alive, more grounded, and more connected to myself than ever before. My confidence has grown. My relationships have deepened. I don’t need to numb or escape life anymore because I actually enjoy it.

And yes… I still eat pizza.
I still rest.
I still have fun. I still drink alcohol.

But now, I do it all from a place of alignment rather than burnout.

It’s easy to underestimate the ripple effect of taking care of your body, mind, and spirit. But when you commit to small, consistent choices that support your well-being, everything starts to shift.

You begin to trust yourself.
You start to feel capable and energized.
You wake up with purpose, not dread.

And from that place, joy flows naturally. Not the fleeting kind but real joy. The kind that stays with you through the ups and downs.

Here are a few Habits and Mindset Shifts that worked for me

Turning It Into A Lifestyle - I no longer wanted to live in that cycle I mentioned previously, as it just wasn’t working, I was sick and tired of living like a yoyo, sometimes feeling good, sometimes feeling terrible, I wanted my bar to raise.

Patient Mindset - The aggressive 30 day weight loss diets weren’t working, and I guess it’s a similar point to the above, not rushing to get results but knowing I eventually will in say 6 months as it’s sustainable.

Start Small & Stay Consistent - So it’s not overwhelming, you’re not overhauling your life, just one intentional habit at a time.

Consistency Over Perfection - I used to crush myself in the gym always trying to burn a million calories, which made me tired, hungry and injured. So now I focus on more general movement everyday, less pressure, consistent and it’s so much more enjoyable when you have that relationship with fitness.

Reducing Alcohol - I may write a whole post on this one to be honest, but it took a while like I mentioned as I never knew fun without it, but now my concept of fun has changed, I still love a drink, but I love waking up fresh and being active.

Healthy Yummy Food - Now I eat healthy, but I still have say jam on sourdough, or a biscuit with my peppermint tea in the afternoon. So could I lose more weight cutting these out? Yes, but this is sustainable and works for me.

You deserve to feel good.
You deserve to enjoy your life.
And living a healthy lifestyle can help you do exactly that.

I have a few more specific habits that have really helped me with my health journey, in particular weight loss which is a huge factor in not just looking good, but feeling good about yourself, if you’d like these, let’s chat, my calendly link is below!
