4 Weeks In Spain

4 Things That Create Their Best Self

I just spent a month in Spain.

Not the tourist version - the real, everyday rhythm of how people actually live here.

And honestly? It's made me rethink a lot of what we're told about "optimal" health and performance.

Here are 4 things that stood out:

1. Almost Daily Human Connection

Every single day, there's connection. A coffee with a friend. A long midday lunch. An evening walk with a neighbour.

It's not scheduled. It's not a "catch-up we should do." It's just... normal life.

We talk about loneliness like it's an epidemic back home. Here? The infrastructure of daily life prevents it. Community isn't a buzzword, it's baked into the routine.

2. A Completely Different Relationship with Food

People here shop every other day. Fresh produce, fresh fish, fresh bread. Not because they're "health conscious" - because that's just what you do.

Meals are big. Delicious. Social. But also genuinely nutritious. There's no obsession, no restriction, no guilt. Just respect for good food and the time it takes to prepare and enjoy it.

The idea of eating lunch at your desk? Unthinkable.

3. Problems Exist, But They Don't Define the Day

People here have struggles. Financial stress. Family issues. Work pressure. All of it, just like we all do.

But there's far less wallowing. Less rumination. Less endless talking about how hard everything is.

It's not toxic positivity — it's more like: "Yes, this is difficult. Now, what's for dinner?"

They get on with it. There's a quiet resilience in not letting negativity dominate the conversation.

4. There's No "One Right Way"

This might be the biggest one.

You've got people running through Turia Park at 7am. And people eating dinner at 10pm. Both are normal.

They adapt with their community. They have routines and habits, yes - but they're not chasing some rigid "optimal" protocol.

There's no obsession with perfection. Just a rhythm that works for them and the people around them.

The Takeaway?

Maybe we've overcomplicated it.

Maybe health isn't about the perfect morning routine, the exact macros, or the "science-backed" sleep protocol.

Maybe it's simpler: real food, real connection, a bit of perspective, and the flexibility to live in a way that actually fits your life.

Something to think about.

Incase you want more!

See you in a couple weeks
